What’s Linney Group like? Different, we hope.

We recruit carefully, sometimes there may seem to be a lot of interviews... but if we get it right between us, we can be talking about working together for a very long time.

Our key words are Friendliness, Helpfulness, Honesty, Cooperation, Security and Prosperity.

Your time with us should not be boring, it should be exciting, sometimes maybe a bit too exciting, but it should be different.

We recently worked with Galaxy Chocolate to promote their ‘Win One Million Moments’ on pack promotion across their website, Facebook and mobile channels.

A Day Made of Glass

Corning, the worlds leading high-tech glass manufacturer (they make Gorilla Glass for smart phones) have released “A Day Made Of Glass 2“, a follow up to their futuristic look at glass technology that racked up almost 20 millions views. I’m blown away by the potential revealed in the film, particularly the way in which their vision has been steered by genuinely improving and enhancing our lives in areas such as education and healthcare.

It’s a brilliantly conceived and produced film too, with a really optimistic and aspirational tone – a positive view of the future for once. A second version of the film has also been released, which pauses at each touchpoint to explore the technology on display and its potential. You can see it by viewing the full post.

Vision West Notts

Linney Group worked with the marketing team of West Nottinghamshire College on a new name and full rebrand for the college which launched to the public recently. This is just the start of an exciting journey for the college, following the opening of a £5 million brand new creative arts centre. This short film gives a taste of the journey we embarked upon.

Mac OS Mountain Lion: Turning the Tables

Apple Mac OSX Mountain Lion

It seems apple continue to pave the way for operating system user interface. In their infancy, mobile operating systems used the lessons learned from desktop computers as a foundation for their user experiences. Now, in an age where mobile is fast becoming the primary platform of computing (particularly through tablets such as the iPad), it seems the tables are turning.

Apple’s latest operating system, OSX Mountain Lion, transfers many of the features designed for iPad back to the desktop, and with the emergence of iCloud, mobile and desktop have never been closer. It’s smile shifts in thinking like this that make Apple so innovative, and keeps them streets ahead of their rivals.

OSX Mountain Lion is released this summer – you can see a sneak peek at Apple.com

Up for the cup

A strategic approach to marketing and communications is vital to the success of any brand. But sometimes a little instinct can pay off.

This weekend, Derby County take on Nottingham Forest at Pride Park.

Exactly six years ago, a few minutes before half-time during a typical blood-and-guts encounter between the bitter local rivals on a blustery Derby day, the Forest keeper was preparing to hack the ball up the field when a Kenco coffee cup blew on to the pitch and landed in its path, spinning the ball in the air…

Linney Sting

Here’s a little sting I’ve made, experimenting with new plug-ins we’ve got here in Multimedia. It was done with 3DS max and the plug-in Particle flow box 2 and put together in After Effects.

Star Wars Uncut: Director’s Cut

After nearly three years and an Emmy win for interactive media, the makers of “Star Wars Uncut,” a fan-made shot-for-shot remake of the first Star Wars film, have released their final product.

Whether it be family members and friends traipsing around their living rooms in full costume while reciting the lines or stop-motion animation using cardboard cut-outs or toys, each scene is meticulously recreated with 15-second bits made by fans that are stitched together to match the 1977 original.

In 2010 it won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media.

More on the More4 Rebrand

More4 Rebrand Idents

I have to admit, when I first saw the More4 rebrand visuals a few weeks ago I wasn’t overly excited – a nice enough visual mark with some obvious potential for TV and animation. (more…)
